I've been here many times, great experience as of now.
Is a small airport, really straightforward. Even if small, there are some businesses to eat, buy souvenirs or the usual duty-free. Before passing through the first ticket reader, you have a Rangers and Celtics shops. There is even what I think is a resting room, just a medium sized place totally empty with carpet, I've seen people resting there on the ground, many big airports around the world should do the same.
Bonus point is that you don't need to take electronics out of your bag for the security, which is a must in many other airports.
Tip: Bus line 500 takes you to Glasgow City Centre, cheapest option (I think is around £8 one way) and fast. If you want to take a car, walk 3-5 minutes and book an Uber, will be around £7 cheaper, as per what I've been told by the drivers, is best for the occupant and for the driver, as that is a fixed number added directly by Uber. Airport to Glasgow City Centre should between £20 and £30.
Fast through security on way out. Expensive food prices within despite being scotgov owned. But suppose the exs salary and bonus needs paid somehow. Passport control on return can be hit and miss with speed depending on how many officers are working. The drop off charges are a rip off, again scotgov controlled so what can you expect and its war on vehicles
The airport is so much easier to navigate and get through security than glasgow thanks to it being smaller and a lot less flights. Only downside is once you pass security there is a bar, a small duty free shop and a wh smith. The whsmith is an absolute rip off. 3 soft drinks and 3 bags of crisps cost over £21. It is £4.50 for a bottle of coke. They can obviously charge what they want since they are the only shop and you cant take liquids through security. Shame on wh smith!
Excellent service from all the staff at Prestwick airport. Easy check-in, security etc. We were on an early morning Ryanair flight, it all went perfectly. Will definitely use this airport & Ryanair flights again.
Kinda love this tired but super quick airport! Always the beginning of some adventures. Super handy with the train connection. Good shops and bar once through security.
